Listening Resources for the Suzuki Violin Method
When I was young, it was somewhat easy to listen – for each Suzuki volume, there was one vinyl recording - performed by Suzuki himself or his student Koji Toyoda. We played the records on our family's hallowed record player.
Now, with so many versions and mediums - and combined with technology that may not be easy for children to operate or access, it seems to be more difficult than ever to easily access the recordings. The predominate method of accessing the current new recordings seems to be via CD.
To complicate matters, the official Suzuki Method recordings are largely unavailable via streaming platforms. All of these makes it tempting for students to listen to sub-par or unrevised, outdated versions of their pieces on YouTube.
The best recordings of Volumes 1-3 are by the world-reknown violinist, Hilary Hahn
The newest recordings of Volumes 4-7 are by the inspiring violinist Augustin Hadelich
